Chivalry: Medieval Warfare Guide

Turn everything to low. Even with a good pc. Everything runs much smoother turning it to low and you can feel the difference vs high to low in response time.

Turn VSYNC OFF this isnt 1996 playing Quake.

Turn Body Count Timer to something low like 5 or 10 secs.
Body count timer will lag you tremendously.
If you have the body timer to max in King of The Hill, your system will grind to a halt at 2fps regardless of what you have unless maybe you have have some triple card setup going.

Sir Pink's Optimization

Chivalry by default has a built in limit to the fps inside the engine.
You have to manually unlock it.

Mine on Windows 7 is located here
C:\Users\YourComputerAccountNameHere\Documents\my games\Chivalry Medieval Warfare\UDKGame\Config
open UDKengine.ini and change these lines

bSmoothFrameRate=TRUE
MinSmoothedFrameRate=22
MaxSmoothedFrameRate=62

to

bSmoothFrameRate=FALSE
MinSmoothedFrameRate=22
MaxSmoothedFrameRate=300

300 is just what I changed mine too. I dont think it matters if you put anything above 90.
The unlocked fps limit will now be recapped to 90 by the engine.

If it is not running at the full 90, then the fps limit was not your issue.

Helmets are currently broken and need to be fixed. again and again
Just accept they they will always be broken. It's supposed to be coming next patch and is live in the Beta if you d/l and try running that. FFA is the fastest game mode. Also you dont have to use a tier 1 to unlock a tier 2. You can use the default weapon to unlock the tier 2 weapon. Remember to make sure your kills are counting. Some servers are not running official settings (such as low gravity) and may not count.

You could potentially level much faster playing on servers with bots, but you will not be learning how to play effectively because you are not facing human opponents and bots are incredibly stupid.

Did the other guy parry your previous attack and launch a new attack off of it? Parry attacks are much faster than a normal attack and will always land first.
Also attack speed goes fastest: Stab > Slash >Overhead It's a bug currently in the game that levels you massively. Sometimes its server specific and other times it stays with you across all servers. Other people seem to go from lvl 46 to 8 constantly. It needs to be patched out. The majority of high lvl players are probably experiencing this glitch. It should be easy to tell if someone is glitched 46 or actually lvl 46. Once the round has gotten a minute or two past starting, I'd say >10%.
You should never be hitting your teammates. At the most you should have 1 or 2 teamkills an entire round. This should be from people walking in front of your attacks while they are behind you not you attacking into their area swinging like a psychotic ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥. Your settings are too low to see them. The fire spewing columns don't spin or anything so it should be obvious where the fire is.

CROSSBOW VS WARBOW
Crossbow:
>unreliable at anything but long range
>reloading makes vulnerability to all enemies especially warbow archers
>useless primary at short range
>leaves you with a secondary constantly
>unable to push due to reload issue
>constant camping that is practically useless on offense
>fires ridiculously slowly
>required range for safety reload makes cbowman likely to miss
>if shield blocks bolt cbow is useless for the next 8 seconds or so until reload
>dangerous down narrow passages that allow a direct line of sight and little movement

Warbow
>reliable at any range
>able to move in and out of range behind the front line wall to help push
>rate of fire allows quick recovery of missed shots or assisting in combat with multiple foes
>ability to damage multiple enemies rather then 1-shot a single enemy is more valuable tactically as damage is more effeciently spread and not lost
>reloading is fast enough to engage a foe on a path to you with multiple shots
>1 shot any archer
>1 shot or mortally wound pretty much any damaged maa or vanguard
>higher dps than crossbow due to rate of fire exceeding crossbow's damage
>shoots about 3 times between crossbow reload time any of which are lethal 1 shots vs cbow
>ability to arc over objects to hit enemies while safe from attack from crossbow
>slightly possible to dodge due to arrow "bullet time"
