DRIFT like a KING

Drifting is a driving technique where the driver intentionally oversteers, with loss of traction in the rear wheels or all tires, while maintaining control and driving the car through the entirety of a corner. Car drifting is caused when the rear slip angle is greater than the front slip angle, to such an extent that often the front wheels are pointing in the opposite direction to the turn.

- As you can see, my personnal preference is to use shifting on "Automatic". If i feel too much low engine speed, at the end of a turn for example, i drop one gearbox speed manually (shifting set on "Automatic" is in reality semi-automatic).
- If your preference is to set shifting on "Manual" it's really great! - An anti-lock braking system (ABS) is a safety anti-skid braking system. ABS operates by preventing the wheels from locking up during braking, thereby maintaining tractive contact with the road surface.
- For a good start you can set it on "Half". - Much power needed with wheels to drift, you can set it on "Off". - For a good start you can set stability control on:

• "Full" if you are using a keyboard
  
• "Half" if you are using a pad
  
• "Off" if you are using a steering wheel

- Suspension is crucial in controlling weight transfer and keeping the wheels in contact with the road surface.

• Standard suspension is a good compromise between a decidedly soft or stiff setup, and as such, it is a great choice for mixed surfaces.
  
• Stiff suspension offers precise control and reduced body roll on smooth tarmac, but it might bottom out on rough dirt or gravel surfaces.
  
• Soft suspension does a great job at keeping the tires on the ground on bumpy surfaces, and it's therefore perfect for rough gravel and dirt.

- In general, long gearing results in higher top speed and slower acceleration, while short gearing provides better acceleration at the cost of lower top speed.

- Gear ratio should be set on per-track basis so that you will maximize acceleration while not running out of gearing on the track's longest straight.

- Differential allows the outer drive wheel to rotate faster than the inner drive wheel during a turn, which means that it has a huge effect on the car's cornering ability.

• A limited-slip differential maintains responsive handling under normal conditions but locks when the difference in the rotational speed of wheels is increased, improving grip when cornering and accelerating.
  
• A locked differential provides improved grip during high speed cornering or acceleration at extremes rates, at the cost of impairing maneuverability and handling.
  
• An open differential offers predictable handling and improved maneuverability and handling, but grip is limited when cornering or driving on a loose surface at a high speed.

- Ideally, to maximize braking efficiency brake balance should be set so that the front and rear brakes lock at the same time.

• Increasing brake bias to the front will stabilize the car when braking and increase understeer at corner entry, but too much front bias will result in the brakes locking too easily.
  
• Increasing brake bias to the rear improves braking efficiency but it also increases a tendency for oversteering upon brake release, which can easily result in loss of vehicle control at a corner entry.

- Again, this guide is intended to help new players who like to drift. If you feel uncomfortable with some settings change it.
