How to Import GFWL Save on your steam branch in 2020

This guide is for you get in 2020 the possibility to recover your save from GFWL to the last version of Resident Evil under Steam.

First at all you need instal the GFWL application, this setup fail when you install the game the first time.

1 - Go in your "library"
2 - Right click on resident evil 5 and choose "Property"
3 - Go in the third tabs of the property windows and choose "local directory"
4 - In the installation of resident evil 5 you will find a folder name "redist"
5 - Install the GFWL application from the folder Redist.

Now we got the requierement install lets get back your save first.

If you didnt get your savegame from GFWL already on your computer please
follow this post from the developer for get the GFWL version on steam
ps : This version is the only version allow you to play with DirectX 10 on steam.

In the last version of Resident Evil 5, the import save function get discontinued.
But thanks to Raz0r who make a patch for rollback to the version who get the import function.

• 1 - download the rollback patch here : (remove the * after copy past link)

• 2 - If you follow the Part 1 of this guide for get your GFWL, you need to turn back your game into the steam version,
  For that go in the game property in your steam library then in "betas" tab choose "none" insteal of "original gfwl Version"

• 3 - Make a backup of your Resident Evil 5 installation
  (save the following items :

• 4 - Extract the archive of the patch downloaded in step 1 then move the content of the folder Rollback to v1.0.9 of RE5 into the root of your Resident Evil 5 installation, Accept to overwrite all files.

• 5 - Start the game, create a new save (you can delete or backup your steam save here :
  <Steam-folder>\userdata\<user-id>\21690\remote\)

• 6 - Go in option then you will see the option for import your save from GFWL version.

After you import your save and then you test and get all your items and progression,
you would like maybe to go back to the last steam version.
This is the most easy step.
Just move back the file from your Backup folder of Resident Evil 5 installation into your Resident Evil 5 proper installation
