Stupid ways to kill red dudes

Stomping
  • You are still able to mario stomp red dudes even if you can't punch or pick up guns. Remember that next time you throw your katana challenge sword at a guy and he shoots it midair: you still have one way left of killing red dudes. Yes, you are probably still boned, but at least you can't complain that you're totally defenseless.
  • Red dudes who think they are about to get stomped usually cower. This stuns them, even if you miss. Turn around and punch.
  • Mario stomping doesn't have to be done from above. You can stand on the same level as a red dude and jump at and into him. Pretend that you're Neo when you do this.
  • You can be killed trying to stomp a guy if your target is in a certain phase of a melee attack. If you aren't sure if he'll get you while you are jumping at him, try jumping beyond him.
  • Practice aiming your stomp by stunning a nearby dude with a punch and then jumping in him.
Throwing
  • You can catch your own thrown objects in midair. You can keep a weapon through a hotswap by throwing the weapon at the guy you are about to become and then catching it. Just look at the weapon as it flies towards your new body, wait for it to get close enough, and pick it up in midair.
  • Better yet, do this with a katana, but throw it through the guy next to the guy you are about to become. Kill two birds AND keep your katana.
  • Throw stuff at the legs of guys with assault rifles and shotguns. It still works if it hits them in the thigh and they're less likely to shoot it down.
Hotswapping
  • Hotswapping is the fastest way to kill a guy. That is to say, every other way of killing a guy causes time to run for at least a few moments, but hotswapping does not. It's nice to save for emergencies, like when that shotgun guy two feet away from you shoots directly at you instead of off to the side.
  • Don't shoot at a guy and then hotswap into him before the bullets hit. YASD.
  • Do throw your own weapon at a guy and then hotswap into him before the weapon hits. Grab it out of the air and keep using it. We talked about this earlier.
  • If you hotswap into a red dude, you automatically throw away his weapon. Here are two ways not to waste his weapon:
    • Hotswap into a guy that is looking at another guy. When you throw the victim's weapon, it should hit the other guy which will stun him. The stunned guy will then drop his weapon, which you can pick up.
    • Throw something nonlethal at a guy who's holding a weapon you want. Then hotswap into him after the thing hits him. You can then pick the weapon up out of the air.
Being Stupid
  • Corners are your great friend, because red dudes usually want to see you before they shoot you. Red guy hugging a corner? If you see the "hit the guy" icon and you're not aiming at glass or a breakable object, you can punch him through the wall. Don't feel bad: they're just red dudes.
  • You probably know that you can kill bullets in midair with the katana. If you didn't know that: you can kill bullets in midair with the katana. They'll even give you a medal the first time you do it. Did you notice that bullets that are in range of your sword get the same moving-slashes texture that red dudes do?
  • Glass will stop one bullet. So will a thrown object, but remember that it takes time to pick stuff up. A bullet will also stop a bullet, but bullets are small and hard to shoot even when they're moving slowly.
  • Red dudes will also stop bullets. Red dudes that are dying will usually stop bullets, too. Red dudes will usually not shoot at living red dudes, but might try to shoot through a dying one. Stun a red dude and use him as a shield to keep another one from shooting at you, then kill the stunned dude, let the shooter waste ammo into his falling corpse, then kill the shooter.
  • Run in circles or strafe against a wall while in cover to recharge your hotswap or shotgun cooldown. Do this if red dudes are far away and you can't shoot them. Who needs pride when you're outnumbered?
  • Ever notice red dudes flinch when you didn't hit them with anything? If stuff bursts from bullets near them, they might flinch. People who are better at this game than me can probably figure out a way to make use of this.
  • Remember that you can hold down the space bar to slow time during a jump, and that you have pretty good air control. There are some challenges this doesn't work in. Red dudes have a hilariously hard time hitting a bunny-slow-hopping player. Who cares if it's cheap?

Killing lots of red dudes

  • A red dude who is stunned is one that is not shooting at you.
  • A red dude who is running for a weapon is not shooting at you.
  • A red dude who is not shooting at you will probably be shooting at you very soon.
  • The most dangerous red dude is the one that you haven't noticed yet. Even though it causes time to move, you have to look around to keep aware of who is around you. You have a lot of options for dealing with red dudes you can see, no matter how many and how well armed. You have absolutely no way of handling red dudes you haven't seen.
  • Pay attention to where red dudes spawn and the noises and lights that signal them spawning. You can be shot by a red dude before he even finishes materializing, so don't hang out near spawn points if you can help it. You can shoot at a spawning red dude if you have to.
  • Keep your options open. Keep something in your hands for throwing. Keep your hotswap charged for emergencies. Pay attention to where dudes are, where they are going, and what they are doing. You have a relatively long time to react to most situations, and two very fast ways of dealing with most emergencies: throwing and hotswapping. Even so, getting surprised is the most dangrous thing that can happen to you.
