All Books Guide / How to get 'Compulsive Reader'
Introduction
There are 32 books that can be read in Persona 4 Golden. Reading these books grants certain benefits, such as increasing your social stats (Courage, Knowledge, etc.) or improving the results of minigames (fishing, catching bugs).
Read books you've acquired by checking the sofa in your room. Books have from 2-4 chapters and you can read one chapter at a time (unless you've finished the Hyperspeed Reading book, in which case you can read two chapters at a time).
Reading all 32 books in a single playthrough will reward you with the "Reader King" accessory that grants +10 Magic (equippable only by the Main Character), and a bronze trophy, "Compulsive Reader."

Detailed Book Checklist
The Avid Reader standing outside Yomenaido wants you to bring him a Peach Seed. Peach Seeds are common dungeon loot found in normal (non-golden) chests.
You must clear the Steamy Bathhouse before 5/29 to trigger a call from your Strength S.Link. Agree to meet up and accept the book when Daisuke offers it.
NOTE! If you joined the basketball team, Kou will not call if he is at rank 4 or higher. Soccer does not have this restriction. However, neither will call if the link is already maxed.
You must have completed Quest 18 in order to receive this quest. The Avid Reader standing outside Yomenaido wants you to feed a cat. Go to the Samegawa Riverbank. On the far left of the screen is a cat; give it any kind of fish and then report back to the man. Fish can be obtained via the fishing minigame or bought from the TV shopping show on 6/5, 6/19, 9/11, 10/2, 10/9 or 11/6.
You must have completed Quest 20 in order to receive this quest. The Avid Reader standing outside Yomenaido wants a pair of Hard Boots. Hard Boots become available to purchase from Daidara by selling him 5 Thick Hides, which are dropped by the Dancing Hand enemies commonly found on Floors 5-8 of the Steamy Bathhouse.
NOTE! You must go to your room on the evening of 7/15 (before leaving the house for any activities that pass time) to receive the call inviting you to hang out on 7/17; your S.Link will not call on Wednesday morning. During the date, tell Kou that you're allergic to math to receive the book.
NOTE 2! If you joined the basketball team, Kou will not call at all if he's at rank 5 or 6. Soccer does not have this limitation. However, neither will call if the link is already maxed.
Your S.Link will call on Wednesday morning to invite you to hang out; accept the book when it's offered.
NOTE! If you joined the basketball team, Kou will not call if he is at rank 5 or 6. Soccer does not have this limitation. However, neither will call if the link is already maxed.
You must have completed Quest 34 in order to receive this quest. The Avid Reader standing outside Yomenaido wants three Fashionable Dishes. These are dropped by the Sky Balance enemies commonly found on Floors 9-10 of Marukyu Striptease.
NOTE! These are regular crafting materials, not special quest drops, so take care not to sell all of them to Daidara if you want to complete this quest.
If you are in a lovers relationship with a girl, she will call you to invite you to the festival. Also, Rise will call at any rank; Ai and Ayane will call at rank 3 or higher; and Yumi will call if she is either at rank 1 or 2, or max+lovers.
NOTE! You must have completed Quest 40 in order to receive this quest. The Avid Reader standing outside Yomenaido will ask you four questions about the books you previously got from him. The answers are "Judo medalists' names," "How one should live as a punk," "2 pages per pest," and "Me."
This can be any 8 dishes (that is, it doesn't have to be the Rainy Day Special), and it can be during the day or nighttime.
Conclusion
Generally, reading a book which raises a particular social stat will increase that stat by 3 points. Reading on a rainy night will result in an additional increase in whatever the book normally provides (one of the two for books which raise two parameters), and for books which normally only bestow a non-stat-related benefit (e.g., Catching Bugs), you'll also receive a bonus stat boost.
Reportedly, books which increase stat gains from other sources (e.g., 100 Ghost Stories) double the increase from those activities once the book has been read.
